چکیده

An airborne microwave radiometer has been thoroughly characterized by the Met Office, using a thermalvacuum test facility and flight test data. Scan dependence due to mirror reflectivity considerations, as well as calibration target thermometry, target thermal gradients, radiometer noise, and radiometer stability are quantified. A resultant accuracy of approximately 1 K is achieved.

A Multipoint Correction Method for Environmental Temperature Changes in Airborne Double-Antenna Microwave Radiometers

This manuscript describes a new type Ka-band airborne double-antenna microwave radiometer (ADAMR) designed for detecting atmospheric supercooled water content (SCWC). The source of the measurement error is investigated by analyzing the model of the system gain factor and the principle of the auto-gain compensative technique utilized in the radiometer. Then, a multipoint temperature correction m...

Skou : Radiometry for Oil Pollution Monitoring , Measurements , and Systems

Work is presently carried out in Europe to change the status of the microwave radiometer, namely, to develop it from a research instrument to an operational instrument-especially for measuring oil pollution on the sea surface. The Technical University of Denmark (TUD), with its long experience in airborne microwave radiometry, is heavily involved in this process. The TUD multichannel imaging ra...

Development of an Agile Digital Detector for RFI Detection and Mitigation on Spaceborne Radiometers

A new type of microwave radiometer detector has been developed that is capable of identifying low level Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and of reducing or eliminating its effect on the measured brightness temperature. The Agile Digital Detector (ADD) can discriminate between RFI and natural thermal emission signals by directly measuring other moments of the signal than the variance that is t...

Ground-Based Microwave Radiometer Measurements

This particular site and time of year was chosen by ARM because it offers a high probability of clearsky, and also a wide range of integrated water vapor amounts. To supplement the routine observing capabilities during the WVIOP2000, a powerful array of tools for measuring water vapor was deployed at the SGP Central Facility area. A comprehensive suite of airborne in situ and ground-based remote

Analog Radio-Frequency Interference (RFI) Suppression System for Microwave Radiometers

—Microwave radiometers use radio spectrum dedicated to sensing the environment. As wireless communications and other active services proliferate, this allocated spectrum is nearly being crowded out. The potential result is corrupted satellite measurements of the weather, the climate, and the environment. The Analog Radio-Frequency Interference Suppression System (ARFISS) is a combination of det...
